In een Q&A sessie met aandeelhouders heeft Saturo Iwata van Nintendo aangegeven dat hij denkt dat hardcore gamers de Wii U zullen accepteren. Als belangrijkste redenen noemt hij de HD-ondersteuning en controls, zo valt te lezen op Andriasang.
Wii U acceptatie
Volgens Iwata waren de 2 zaken die de hardcore weg deden lopen van de Wii U het gebrek aan HD-ondersteuning en de vernieuwende controls. Iwata vond destijds dat de kosten van HD niet opwogen tegen de voordelen. Iwata benadrukt ook nog eens dat de Wii U controller niet zwaar en onhandig is zoals sommigen wel eens denken.
